Cloverfield Sucks a Big Dick and Here’s Why …

January 21st, 2008 admin

This weekend I decided to suspend watching movies for free in place of going to the theater and watching one for the ‘movie experience.’ Well, I was reminded why I sit in my room around my computer screen watching movies this weekend. I went to see Cloverfield this weekend on the advice of a few friends. Usually I agree with my friends on movie taste, this thinking this movie is anywhere near good is a damn shame.

Simply put this is the worst movie very made coupled with the most genius marketing campaign ever known. The numbers don’t lie, 43 million in the first weekend is an impressive number, but I am sure more than three-quarters of those people are pissed off they wasted 8 bucks and 2 hours of their life on this piece of shit. I wasted 2 non refundable hours of my life. I will never see those two hours again and I am not better for it. “America’s Monster Movie” blows so much ass it’s unbelievable! The story and plot were completely fucking stupid and predictable, the characters were uninteresting and dull and the most exciting parts of the movie are so unbelievable that the movie just leaves a dry, unsatisfying taste in your mouth.

Hud, the cameraman/narrator is a complete imbecile. Everyone has that one retarded friend that they really don’t like to hang around, but the retarded friend just shows up and forces themselves upon you, you know? Hud is that guy. Anyway, the story centers around a dumbass who slept with his best friend (a girl, surprisingly) and forgot to tell her he loved her. Instead he ignored her for a month until the day before he was to leave for Japan to become the 20-something Vice President of some unnamed company. Anyway, he’s trying to find her all the while the city is getting torn to shit by a monster.

Here are some of the instances in the movie I don’t understand:

1) Why the HELL would people be using their cellphones to take video and pictures of the Statue of Liberty’s head as it lay on the streets of lower Manhattan? Dumb fucks would.

2) Why do the little 3 foot tall “Starship Trooper” bugs beat the living shit out of the army, yet four retards with a camera and an axe are able to take them out?

3) How in the FUCK was Beth (the object of Rob’s obsession) able to run like everyone else even though she had a two inch STAKE sticking out of her 20 minutes earlier? Sure she seems hurt as they are trying to climb up her fucked over apartment complex and down the stairwell of the next, but after that she seems completely fine.

4) Why didn’t Marlena die sooner? She had around twenty something 2 inch long teeth gashes cut into her, but once again Rob is able to pull out the magic shirt of life from his ass and keep her around for a few more scenes. I really hope that guy that took her into the backroom shot her in the head. It would be disheartening to know that she just blew up.

5) Why did the monster ALWAYS happen to be where the characters were? That got really fucking annoying. Lower Manhattan, the monster was there fucking building over; in the toppled over building, the monster looked right at them and then turned around and started coming toward them; in the helicopter several hundred feet, the fucking monster nibbles on their craft (I’ll get to this later); Central Park, take a wild fucking guess. The monster must have gotten a lock on Hud’s no game, retard pheromones, that MUST be it!

6) Last time I heard, when I helicopter is inoperable, it falls and it falls all the way to the ground. People usually die when helicopters hit the ground from several hundred feet up. So how where Rob, Beth and Hud able to survive even after the monster (who had to bite at the SKY to get them) fucked over their helicopter? Rob must have a couple of those ass rags that keep people from dying when they should.

7) The 9-11-esque destruction of New York City was just as tasteless as could be, the movie wasn’t scary at all, had a terrible ending and I found myself chuckling and whispering sadistic comments just to keep myself amused for the duration.

I guess my biggest problem is that I didn’t ‘suspend my disbelief’ for the movie. Well, there wasn’t much there to convince me to do anything. The characters were unimaginably drab, it makes sense since one was a model and one is a newly promoted VP.

The best part about the movie was when Hud got eaten by the monster. The second best part was when the other dumb fucks die when the city gets bombed to shit. Don’t get pissed that I ruined it, be thankful I saved you time and money! I take it all back, the BEST part of the movie was when an all black entourage of people were breaking windows and looting the electronics store for 50 inch TVs, stereo systems and all that. I had a good laugh then.

I go to movies to watch a MOVIE, not a drawn out reality show about two dumb fucks that are too stupid to say “I love you.” As one of the other bloggers wrote, “If I wanted to listen to some whiny white boy run around and scream like a bitch I would simply watch MTV.” I couldn’t say it any better.

Nutt, the Cut and Run Coach

November 28th, 2007 admin

Coach NuttDespite what anyone says about him, I DID like Coach Nutt.
Arkansas has the worst fair-weather fans in the nation and it brought down our football program. He has lifted us up when we needed him and even though a majority of fans disliked him, they would have been more than welcoming had our current program sucked balls. Sure Coach Nutt relied heavily on a running game but why wouldn’t you with some of the top backs in the country?

If we started recruiting heavily for receivers and a quarterback, I am sure we could turn that around. Different coaches have different styles, this was just the style he was comfortable with. Still don’t like the way he handled Arkansas? Well you couldn’t do any better, so get over yourself. That being said, he really alienated the people who have stood behind him and spit on our faces, so to speak. That’s precisely why I dislike him now. I wish it didn’t happen the way it did (and before our bowl game too), but it did and I can only hope we can rout Ole Miss next year. The fact that he had to be paid to leave shows how greedy he is. He left Arkansas to get paid $700,000 more at a lesser school. I have been to Ole Miss. I have seen the kind of student fans they have there. They suck, they don’t cheer, they just stand there and take their beating. The Grove might be an amazing tailgating experience, but it doesn’t compare to Arkansas spirit.

Good riddance Nutt, enjoy your 3.5 million dollar bribe.

As for new head coach speculation, I would like to see Tulsa’s Offensive Coordinator and Arkansas’ previous Offensive Coordinator to return to his home state and bring all the glory back to Arkansas that she so desparately needs! Malzahn would make a terrific coach. He coached Springdale and did a fantastic job. He proved himself as an Offensive Coordinator for his two years in the NCAA and would serve us well as a HC. He took one of the lesser teams in the NCAA and turned them into the best offensive team in the NCAA - in one year. If that isn’t impressive, I don’t know what is. I really don’t know if he’ll even consider it though, even if he would be welcomed back with a warm heart and healthy stay.

Another coach who would be worthy of UA Coach-dom is Chris Petersen of Boise St. He has been a powerhouse in the WAC (Western Athletic Conference). And would do well to come to the SEC. If not to coach a good football team, to get the SEC paygrade. If Nutt could get 1.1 million a year, there is no telling what Petersen could rake in, but I would hope that he wouldn’t use pay as a reason to come to Arkansas. Hopefully it would be to improve our program overall. Jeff Long will make the right decision. Well, as long as he doesn’t pick Reggie Herring he will make the right decision.

On a lighter note, Arkansas and Texas A&M may start playing annual games in the new Cowboy Stadium in Arlington, Texas. That’s pretty sweet. A renewed rivalry! GO HOGS!

I Have Something to Be Thankful For!!

ArkansasAn Arkansas win at LSU!! Who can say they have witnessed history first hand? I, for one, can. I went to the game yesterday. THE game. Not a game. I went to the LSU v Arkansas game and had a time. Looking back on the game, it was amazing. I knew it would be a good game, but I had no idea it would turn out the way it did.

Last week I was telling my roommates that I smelled an upset, despite all of the football analysts (or half of them) trying to say LSU was ranked #1 in the country for a reason. To my glee, my Arkansas Razorbacks were able to pull through and bring home the Golden Boot this year! And not a game too soon. Les Miles is rumored to be leaving LSU for his Alma Mater, Michigan and speculation is that Houston Nutt will be leaving after this season for Baylor in Texas.

Let me not forget what it means to beat LSU! Since Arkansas joined the SEC from the SWC in 1992, LSU has won 10 of 16 games, including last night. Les Miles has been 32-5 in his three years at LSU, also including the Arkansas win last night. LSU has had the Golden Boot Trophy for the last 4 years, it’s about damn time the boot be brought back to Fayetteville, where it belongs! Not to mention that that the Tigers have only lost one other time in Death Valley. That number one rank deserved to be ripped away.

Now, Tiger Stadium is not a fun place to be if you are cheering for the opposite team. LSU fans are loud, drunk and very aggressive. Their stadium holds 92,400 screaming fans and has had a 119dB reading during a game. It’s intimidating for any team and their fans. This wasn’t an average Tiger Stadium game though. The temperature in South Louisiana dropped about 30 degrees in 2 days. That made me one unprepared Arkansas fan. I had a hoodie I had brought to deal with the plane temperature and jeans, along with my Arkansas polo. Let me tell ya that my hoodie wasn’t rated to keep someone warm in 3x degree weather. I shook violently the entire game, except for the brief moments when Arkansas broke away for a touchdown or made a play. Everyone of my cheers for Arkansas was met with an even louder and more angry cheer for the Tigers. I wasn’t the only one cheering for the Hogs though, there was a 2-man pocket 8 rows above me who yelled and shouted the entire game. He was a true obnoxious Arkansas fan, the kind we should all be!

As an SEC game, this was one for the books. Arkansas has great talent and it was very apparent against the number one team. This game goes to show that there is not competition like the competition within the SEC. We are a powerhouse of talent and the fact that we don’t have many ranked teams has nothing to do with it. I’d put my money on an SEC team over a Big Ten or Big Twelve team anyday. I’ll recognize that the Pac Ten has talent, but only because of amazing recruiting programs and previous recognition on the national spotlight.

The Arkansas-LSU game was one for the record books, but I’ll honestly say that I was torn on who I wanted to win. I am fiercely loyal to Arkansas, but wanted another SEC team National Championship. Florida showed everyone last year that the SEC wasn’t to be underestimated and I kind of wanted LSU to prove the same thing. However, I think Arkansas earned the win and I am greatful for that.

I still have a chance for a SEC National Championship - the Georgia Bulldogs. As long as Kansas wins this week, but loses the Big Ten Championship and the University of West Virginia loses one of its next two games, Georgia could very well be put up against Ohio St. I’d love for the Bulldogs to show the country what’s up.

So Arkansas brought down a dynasty and I was there to witness it. I will be talking about this for a very long time! Not to mention Arkansas earned Darren McFadden some much needed attention and have given themselves a better bowl game! Go Hogs!!

Not Ready for a Break

November 20th, 2007 admin

Today was just one of those boring days. I just had one class and a meeting. Well, I woke up ten minutes before the class, rushed over there and listened for 10 minutes as my professor wished us a very happy turkey day and left. On top of that, I canceled my meeting. I am usually really busy and I like it that way. When I start the numb feeling of having nothing to do, I start to freak out and make up things for me to do. So, I played JetMan, a Facebook application, for the majority of the day and did some revamping of my websites.

Jetman shouldn’t be a fun game. It’s just a copy of the flash Helicopter game, but with a little man. I shouldn’t want to waste my time playing it, but I get some sick satisfaction out beating my old high score. It seems that they are added pages to see how many times we have beaten certain people. That sucks, now people will know that I have won against the same guy 15 times. What a shame! Call me what you will - I need something to keep me occupied.

I also uploaded a majority of my songs back onto my server so I can listen to them when away from my computer. That’s a good feeling, knowing that my music is available where ever I happen to find an internet connection. Phone, laptop, computer lab, home - it doesn’t matter. Having my own server is amazing because of all the testing I get to do on it without stepping on anyone’s toes. Anyway, so I have been configuring some useful applications and sifting through the hex code of a couple programs to find some memory functions. That’s all nonsensical to you though. OH and last night, apparently FaceBook had a lapse! The “is” was taken out for a period of about 10 minutes, I was able to get in one status change before anything else came of it. I emailed them about it and they said that there were discussions on whether to remove the “is” but was no immediate answer as to if or when this might take place.

Even if I am bored at the moment, the rest of the week should be fine! I am flying down to New Orleans to see my dad on Thursday. We are going to the LSU v Arkansas game and that’ll cheer me up. Maybe Coach Nutt can pull something out of his ass and bring back a victory for me. I can only dream!

Anyway, all it well over here. Music (50GB) is uploaded and protected and I have lots of other projects to bring online before I need to worry about anything else.

CCZ gets a Makeover

November 18th, 2007 admin

This past weekend I have planned out and started to implement my own changes to my network of websites for my personal use. I guess I just wanted an upgrade.

I didn’t really like having my blog as the first portion to my websites. It caused a lot of undue stress on the server and made the pages load slower. Integrating the gallery into the webblog really didn’t help any on server request loads either. As far as my updates go, I have been working on my own photo gallery that I can share with friends and family. I have approximately 200 GBs of webspace and a terabyte of transfer that I am not doing anything with. Why use Google’s Picasa or Photobucket when I can use my own means. Also, as it’s apparent, I have separated out my blog.

I have situated my database configuration to make everything just a tad bit faster. Further, I am looking to expand my presence with an online Resume. I have done a lot of work during the past two school years and would like it available on the internet.
